The method-actor's on a roll and wins his fourth Best Actor award at the Star Awards Show 2.

In America, there are the prestigious Oscars and Emmy awards. In Singapore, we have the inaugural Star Awards ceremony, held to recognize the crème de la creme from the local Mandarin media industry. The glitzy Star Awards 2010 Show 2 was relocated to Resorts World Singapore for the first time, and had a grand red carpet opening much to the delight of local fans and celebrities.
It was no surprise that the coveted hot spot of Best Actor and Best Actress went to veteran artistes like Chen Hanwei and Chen Liping this year. Having won Best Actor and Best Actress awards previously is more than enough an assurance of the pair's acting chops in their respective drama series, Daddy At Home, and Reunion Dinner.
It seems like Hanwei's lucky object of a black rose brooch worked its charm again. This is the actor's second consecutive win and his fourth trophy from the Best Actor category. He even jokingly offered to "resell" his lucky ornament to fellow hot contender in the Best Actor Award category, Tay Ping Hui, in his award acceptance speech onstage.

At a backstage interview with the winner, Hanwei clarified that his black rose lucky charm talk is in fact "a joke" and explained that he has "forked out equal amount of effort for the role." He hopes that everyone would "treat this black rose like a mole on my face and get used to it slowly."
"I always felt that Ping Hui performs well and is a very hardworking person. Maybe he lacked that bit of luck and his roles restricted his acting capabilities. My character gave me more room to be creative, unlike Ping Hui's," he shared.
Earnestly expressing his hopes to collaborate with Ping Hui in future, Hanwei also revealed his plans of venturing into the directing scene.
"I enjoy photography and styling for people. I hope that I can do it within two years, be it movie or drama."
Unlike Hanwei who went all out to sacrifice his good looks and precious locks for his role as a househusband in Daddy At Home, Liping took home the Best Actress Award with her heartwarming and earnest portrayal of an ordinary housewife in Reunion Dinner.

In an interview with xinmsn, the second-time Best Actress Award winner (Liping's first was in Holland Village) said, "I'm really very happy because I always try to do my best in each series. Winning this award is like a reaffirmation [to my hard work].

"Reunion Dinner was shot very long ago, I've never thought about winning any award; neither did I expect to win this award. I'm just very grateful to be a part of Reunion Dinner," she quipped.
On her fellow hotseat contenders, Jeanette Aw (Together) and Ann Kok (Housewives' Holiday), Liping strongly believes that the pair would not take it to heart because "getting nominated in this category is in itself a reaffirmation [of your work]."
Apart from the Best Actor and Best Actress award category presented, the next highly-anticipated award category belonged to the Top 10 Most Popular Male and Female artistes award. It was no surprise that shoo-ins like Dai Yangtian, Elvin Ng, Qi Yuwu, Tay Pinghui, Felicia Chin, Jeanette Aw, Joanne Peh, and Rui En bagged an award each.
Other Top 10 Most Popular Male and Female Artistes award winners include Bryan Wong, Chen Hanwei, Zhang Yaodong, Zheng Geping, Dennis Chew, Guo Liang, Quan Yi Fong, Xiang Yun, Jesseca Liu, Vivian Lai, Michelle Chia, and Yvonne Lim.
