1) 2010 New Year Concert by China Philharmonic Orchestra

 

The China Philharmonic Orchestra will perform a 2010 China New Year Concert on the night of 31st December, 2009 at the Xiamen International Conference Centre Concert Hall.

 

Renowned musicians and the Inner Mongolia Five Colors Hulunbeier Youth Choir will also give performances at the new year concert.

2) Concert by American Hollywood Film Orchestra

 

The American Hollywood Film Orchestra will stage a concert at the Xiamen Arts Theatre on 7th January 2010.

 

They will perform songs from Oscar Awarded Movies including "The sound of Music", "Gone with the Wind", "Wizard of Oz", "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon", "TITANIC" and "Chicago".

1) Winter swimming

 

At around 10:30am, on 1st January 2010, a winter swimming activity is going to be held at Baicheng Beach.

 

Organized by the Xiamen Lang Tao Sha Winter Swimming Club, the winter swimming activity was first held 11 years ago and has become an annual festival for winter swimming lovers. It attracts hundreds of swimming lovers from across the Mainland, Taiwan and Hong Kong to participant in the activity every year.

2) Street roller skating

 

At 9:30am on New Year's Day, the Xiamen E Lu Liu Roller Skating Club will hold their 6th annual New Year's street roller skating. They will start at the Xiamen International Conference & Exhibition Centre, and end at Xiamen University.

3) 2010 Xiamen International Marathon

 

Consisting of a full marathon, half marathon, 10-km and 5-km races, the 2010 Xiamen International Marathon attracts nearly 50,000 participants. The whole course runs largely through the scenic sections of the city, including Huandao Lu(Ring Road) and large landscaped areas, which are flat and considered to be ideal for a marathon race. In particular, the scenic Huandao Lu is regarded among the most beautiful marathon courses in the world.

4) 2010 New Year Sailing Competition

 

7 teams from Xiamen's universities, including Xiamen University, Jimei University, Huaqiao University, Xiamen University of Technology, Xiamen Ocean Vocational College, and Xiamen City University, and other 11 teams from Xiamen's sailing clubs and lovers will be participating in the competition.
