Xiamen hotels show support for Earth Hour 2014

According to statistics from the Xiamen Grid control centre, Xiamen saved about 17,300 kWh of energy on 29th March during Earth Hour 2014 from 8:30 pm to 9:30 pm.

Xiamen officially signed up to support Earth Hour for the first time in 2010, which has aroused great attention from the public. Hotels and shopping malls in the city have actively gotten involved in the campaign via various activities.
General Manager of Le Meridien Xiamen Mr. David Katemopoulo made a speech before the concert in the hotel's garden.

Le Meridien Xiamen, a five-star hotel tucked away on the lush Xianyue Mountain, turned off its exterior signature lighting and dimmed non-essential interior lighting, and an outdoor concert was held for the guests.

As the 7th branch of Le Meridien in the Greater China region, Le Meridien Xiamen has grown in popularity since it's opening in 2010 because of its chic, creative and innovative design, service delivery and fabulous cuisine. The Starwood Hotel Group has opened over 1,000 hotels worldwide to date. The hotel giant has promised to reduce it's hotel rooms' energy consumption by 30% and water consumption by 20% by the end of 2020.

Langham Place, Xiamen, a newly opened luxury hotel joined the global environmental movement by activating the most energy-saving lighting mode in its lobby and dining areas. The hotel specially presented low-carbon dishes, which were prepared in the simplest way to reduce carbon emissions, and organic Mojito cocktails were served for its guests.

Meanwhile, the LCD screen rolled “tips to reduce smog” to call for every guest to join this year’s “The Blue Sky Project”, which is in response to the worsening air pollution situation in China.
The blackout ceremony for Earth Hour 2014 in Pullman Xiamen Powerlong
A candlelit cocktail party was held in Pullman Xiamen Powerlong during the 1-hour Earth Hour.
And the waterfront hotel Pullman Xiamen Powerlong held a Blackout Ceremony in the lobby which attracted the participation of about 100 guests, and a candlelit night was created in the lobby and main dining areas as the hotel switched off the exterior lighting and non-essential interior lighting after the ceremony.

The guests enjoyed a cocktail party while listening to an unplugged concert organized by the hotel for Earth Hour.
