The opening ceremony of the festival will start at 8:30 am on 17th May, and a unique eye dotting ceremony for the dragon boats will be held on the water this year.

Besides dragon boat racing, a variety of other popular folk activities and cross-cultural activities will also be held, including a traditional ritual for the Dragon Boat Festival, a reading party, Minnan (southern Fujian) opera performances, dragon dance performances, and more.

Mr. Tan made the 300x800m Dragon Boat Pool (龙舟池) in 1955, and also constructed 10 dragon boats, each capable of holding 16 rowers. He personally planned and organized the dragon boat races in the 1950s.
