Topic: Stupid People Need Validation
You know...one thing that definitely irritates me about stupid people is the need for validation. Have you noticed this? This is especially true of some ex-pats in China. Conversations with some people are so formulaic that you can literally break it apart into steps.

1.) Pleasantries (What's your name, age, where are you from, what do you do...)

2.) A put down or insult vaguely phrased as a "neutral" observation about a larger group or trend, but which is obliquely directed at me as a person. (For example, if they learn I am American, they'll say something about America; if they know I am registered as a Democrat, they'll say something about the Democrats; if they mistake me for Christian (I am an Atheist) they'll make some opprobrious comment about the religion, and so on).

3.) After this, they'll try and prop up themselves by similarly praising or promoting some aspect of their character, beliefs, or background; particularly one that contrasts with mine. (for example, if they put-down my nation, they'll say something positive about their own; if they put-down my political beliefs, they'll praise theirs, etc...)

4.) They will then "right themselves" apologizing for their earlier comments, and then offer some complementary praise about some aspect of whatever it was about me they had just criticized earlier.

5.) They then explain that the "only reason" they said something negative earlier was because of "X", where "X" is some wrong that occurred earlier from whatever group or trend I fall into (or they think I fall into); either this, or it will be a statement of disagreement with some idea that the group or trend has (or they think it has).

6.) Finally, they will try and change the conversation by insulting some third party.

I guess this is a way that some stupid people, who don't deserve to live or be treated like humans, try and break the ice and make conversation with people. But the problem is that it is both insulting, as well as predictable and lame. It smacks of a lame attempt by worthless idiots to seek some sort of validation of themselves (the fact that they need to look for that shows they have no faith in themselves), as well as try to put others down. On this second point, stupid people try and counter with the argument "doesn't everybody have the right to think as they want and to share their opinions openly? So, why take that away from them?". TO which my response is, that, while I certainly believe everyone has a right to their opinion, if I didn't ask you to share your opinion with me, then please keep it to yourself; plus, often times such opinions aren't being shared as "opinions", but are oblique attempts at insulting or jibing me...an insult masquerading as an opinion. Rather than say "I (don't) like Pizza", an inoffensive opinion, it will be "I (don't) like some aspect of something that is a part of your background" which they only offer up precisely BECAUSE they know (or think) that I am from that background. That shows that they WANT to insult me. It isn't the fact that they hold that opinion - that is their right - it is the intent behind why, when, and how they say it. It is clearly stated only to get a rise out of me, not to induce honest conversation on the matter. That shows that they aren't people, and deserve to die.

If most of your contribution to a conversation is... "Oh wow" Im not suprised people dont get on with you. Oh, and stop pretending you are from Uzbekistan. With an attitude like yours you could only be from America.

The Chinese one did come off a bit racist, but I have had similar conversations to all of these. People really like to talk **** about other countries and then cover it up with "but you're not as bad as X country". The formula has been discovered! Give this man a Nobel Prize in Mathematics!

Googalar is scary. Not only because of the opinions he expresses in these posts but from the mania expressed in the composition and frequency of the posts. I hope this guy is not long to stay in Xiamen. You can see a lot of criticism for "stupid" people in these posts, but I would much rather spend time with these fictional characters he writes of than with Googalar himself.
