A Finnish couple have won their second wife-carrying world championship.

Husband and wife duo Taisto Miettinen and Kristiina Haapanen won the unusual games for the second year running after Taisto ran the 253-metre course with his wife upside down and hanging off his back in record time.

He said: "Before I have been a lot of in a gym, but nowadays I have run a lot and that is the secret."

The couple have been training for the competition - which first started 15 years ago - for the past year.

Estonia's Alar Voogle and Kristi Viltrop tripped in the water obstacle and were second some five seconds behind the winners。

Finns Ilpo Haalisto and Satu Juurinen got bronze.
