Xiamen's housing price rises to 21,741 yuan/sq m in Jan 2014

According to the average housing prices of Chinese cities in January, released by the national real estate market information center, Xiamen ranks 4th among Chinese top 100 cities with having the highest housing prices in January.

With its incessantly high housing prices, Beijing, the country's political, cultural and economic center, stood out as the most expensive city to live in in January. Shanghai ranked second.

The top 10 cities that posted the highest average housing prices in January are: Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Xiamen, Sanya, Wenzhou, Hangzhou, Guangzhou, Nanjing and Tianjin.

According to the latest statistics released by the Xiamen Statistical Bureau, 5,141 residential houses were sold in January. The average housing price in the city increased to 21,741 yuan/sq m while transaction volume stood at 609,700 square meters in the month, hitting a 10-month high.

Fuzhou and Quanzhou rank 11th and 31st with 14,066 yuan/sqm and 8,036 yuan/sqm, a year-on-year increase of 15.48% and 3.12% respectively.
