Xiamen Port's cargo throughput hits 191 million tons in 2013

Xiamen Port’s cargo throughput reached 191 million tons last year, an increase of 10.8 percent compared with the previous year. And the container throughput reached eight million TEU, ranking the eighth in the Chinese mainland, an increase of 11.2 percent, the second highest increase among the country’s coastal ports.

Xiamen Port plans to achieve cargo throughput of 205 million tons this year, an increase of more than 7 percent, and to achieve container throughput of 8.4 million TEU, an increase of 5 percent or even 7 percent The authorities aim for fixed investment of 1.7 billion yuan concerning 21 projects, and cargo handling capacity of 2.28 million tons per annum. And they also aim for waterway freight transportation of 100 billion ton-km, ensuring an increase of 10 percent and aiming for 12 percent.
