The 2nd preliminary conference of the 18th China International Fair for Investment & Trade (CIFIT) was held in Beijing on July 24.

As a priority of the agenda , the organizing committee had set the tone for this year’s CIFIT as “frugal, pragmatic and professional” according to the "eight-point" frugality rules which were put forward in late 2012 by President Xi Jinping and which have become a main trend throughout the country.

Wang Shouwen, assistant minister of Ministry of Commerce, stressed the point that his Ministry always plays a supportive role for the CIFIT in many different ways. Facing high expectations from the global market, there is still a long way to go in terms of improving the investment structure and helping minor enterprises. The CIFIT, as a strategic platform which covers a massive scale of economic activities in the country, is trying to make a professional, international and commercialized upgrading of the fair.

"All parties made persistent efforts in preparing for the CIFIT in the past month, and it demanded a great determination, a strong sense of responsibility and unrestricted communication,” said Wang.

Zheng Xiaosong, the deputy governor of Fujian province, wanted a more refined proposal from the committee while pinning high hopes on this year’s fair. He said that more potential and profitable projects were welcome, as well as guests from all over the world.

The CIFIT, as an annual event, takes place in Xiamen on September 8 every year . Themed as "Introducing FDI" and "Going Global", this year’s CIFIT focuses on nationality and internationality, investment negotiations and investment policy promotions, the coordinated development of the national and regional economy, as well as economic and trade exchanges across the Taiwan Strait.
