Wucun underground commercial street and underpass, the largest underground business hub project in Fujian, have been put into trial operation on Monday.

Four entrances to the commercial street and two underpasses linking the Xiamen Railway Station and Wucun Long-distance Bus Station have been put into use at the same time.

As the underground mall has not yet been fully completed and the fire-fighting facilities still need to be further improved, the two underpasses are just on test run, according to Xiamen traffic department.

12 entrances have been set along the underpasses, including 2 on the railway station square and 5 in the long-distance bus station. 19 elevators, including 3 for the disabled, have been installed to ensure a smooth crowd flow.

The temporary overpass will not be demolished until after the Spring Festival travel peak to relief the passenger flow pressure, the department said.
