A survey conducted by Ctrip.com, a leading travel portal in China, revealed that Sanya and Xiamen are both the hottest tourist destinations during this year's Spring Festival holiday, but according to statistics, hotel prices in the two cities are quite different.

It is reported that living in high-end hotels in Sanya for one night now costs you the same as 7 days in Xiamen.

During the Spring Festival, spending one night in Pan Pacific Xiamen is 1,380 yuan, in Millennium Harbourview Hotel is 836 yuan and in Wyndham Hotel is 882 yuan.

And the latest quotation list of Sanya hotels shows, five-star hotels near Sanya Bay in China's Hainan province charge more than 15,000 yuan (about 2,197U.S. dollars) per day, and some hotels even charge more than 20,000 yuan (about 2,929.7 U.S. dollars) for one night. Though the hotel rates are so high in Sanya, many hotels have been booked out.

"Sanya is always a hot tourist destination. With the Spring Festival approaching, and the recent influx of real estate speculators, hotel prices have soared, but such a great rise has never seen in previous years. I have never seen so many hotels all raise their prices to 10,000 or more for a night. "Qu Jia, a veteran in domestic tourism exclaimed.

Mr. Lee, who just came back from Dubai, said he stayed at the Burj Al Arab Hotel during his trip, and this 7-star hotel charges 15,000 yuan for one night.
