The blue Chinese rose has the same color as "blue enchantress" .
Lovers and citizens spending their CNY and Valentine’s Day in Xiamen need not buy any flowers, for Wanshi Botanical Garden will display 6000 Chinese roses of about 100 species. During this floral extravaganza there will be displays of Chinese rose arrangement, paintings and calligraphy exhibition on Chinese roses, plus an introduction about the scientific knowledge of Chinese roses.
Till 15th Feb 2010, over 30 species of Chinese roses are on display. Among them, the most famous and precious Chinese rose the “blue moon”, a pot of blue Chinese roses, which has the same color as “blue enchantress” sold in the flower markets . Another is a 3-metre-tall tree-like Chinese rose in bud. The miniature rose “golden sun” is as small as a pea, but its flower has three or four layers of petals. Another Chinese rose is similar to the peony in size, too big for the palm of the hand to cover.
According to Wanshi Botanical Garden, it has brought in over 10,000 pots of Chinese roses from Nanyang (the hometown of Chinese roses located in Henan Province), Guangdong and Quanzhou. The 6000 pots of Chinese roses on display are in full blossom. Since the Chinese rose has only 7 to 10 days of blooming period, the best period to appreciate the delicate and charming flowers is from 14 Feb to 20 Feb.
