Xiamen kicks off construction of Jimei New Town

Xiamen has kicked off the construction of Jimei New Town today, marking the start of a new round of construction of outer districts of Xiamen.
 
The new town, with its centerpiece covering a total area of 6 square kilometers, will be constructed into a ecological coastal town.
 
Xinglin Bay will be created as the business center of Jimei District, where many brand stores, pubs, cafes and high-level entertainment venues will be established.
 
8 projects will be brake ground, including a high-tech zone, a main road, a sports park, an aquatic sports centre, a school, a commercial center at Xinglin Bay, and two residential quarters covering 730,000 square meters.
 
“In the near future, Jimei will be built into a new ecological town around Xinglin Bay, with a high-quality cultural level, beautiful living environment, favorable business conditions and a complete set of supporting facilities,” said Mr. Wu Zhijian, director of the headquarters office of Xinglin Bay. 
 
Jimei, as the tie of Xiamen Island and the mainland, is considered an important transportation hub in Xiamen. The establishment of the new railway station will bring more people and promote the prosperity of this area. Jimei also has quickened the development of commodity housing for attracting people to settle down.
 
With the rapid development of the outer districts of Xiamen in recent years, the gap and distance between the external regions and centerpiece of Xiamen Island has been greatly narrowed, said Mr. Wu.
