Taipei, March 11 (CNA) Nearly 2,500 tourists arrived on a cruise liner in Keelung Harbor in northern Taiwan Thursday, including 630 Chinese employees of the U.S. direct sales company Amway, the Keelung Harbor Bureau said that day.
The Hong Kong-registered Cosco Star sailed directly from Xiamen Port in China's Fujian Province.
Yan Ni, the tour leader of the Chinese Amway group, said they were looking forward the most to visiting Alishan and Sun Moon Lake.
The Amway group will be taken to popular spots such as the Yehliu Geopark in the Northeast Coastal Scenic Area, the National Palace Museum and Taipei 101 in Taipei, Alishan in Chiayi County and Sun Moon Lake in Nantou County.
It is the first group of Chinese Amway employees to visit Taiwan this year. In 2009, over 12,000 employees visited Taiwan on nine separate cruises between March and May, as part of an Amway incentive program.
Meanwhile that day, the cruise ship Legend of the Seas also arrived in Keelung carrying 1,804 tourists, including 732 Chinese tourists, as well as 429 tourists from Hong Kong and Macau.
