Xiamen will kick off construction of the largest auto theme park in Haixi Economic Zone (the west side of the Taiwan Strait) this August, reports Taihainet.com.
The park, given the name of Jingang (Xiamen) Auto Park, will be located at Hongshan, Neicuo Town of Xiang’an District, some 30 minutes drive from Xiamen Island.
The project, covering 52.33 hectare or 523,300 square meters, involves a total investment of 800 million yuan. The main track is expected to complete construction by 2011.
Upon completion, Xiamen will be the fifth Chinese city with an international race track in line with FIA standards, following Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu, and Zhuhai.
The park will be divided into four areas, namely, International car racing circuit, auto trade area, auto service area, and auto culture, tourism and leisure area.
The international car racing circuit will be completed with a 3.34-km-long secondary track, a go-karting track, a professional auto drive test centre, and other ancillary facilities.
The park is expected to attract car racing fans from Taiwan, Singapore and other Asian countries to Xiamen, with the A1 World Cup, the Asian F1 Championships and other big international and domestic motor sports events.
