The temporary passenger waiting area for the CNY travel peak, which is at the front square of the Xiamen Railway Station, is now being transformed into a 1600-square-meter waiting area to cope with the surging passenger flow for the upcoming CRH bullet trains.

The new waiting area is built with a steel structure, and is larger than the existing waiting hall of the station on the second floor. It is estimated to be completed on April 20, one week before the opening of the Xiamen-Fuzhou Railway.

Besides, the No. 1 Waiting Hall will be used as a designated waiting room for CRH train passengers. The work has nearly completed and new seats and a CRH train service counter have been added.

The Station Platform No.3 will be exclusively used for CRH trains to stop at.

With the opening of the Fuzhou-Xiamen railway and the construction of the Xiamen-Shenzhen, Xiamen-Longhai, and Xiamen-Yingtan Line II, the railway network in Xiamen will fully cover both freight service and passenger services.
