And now we head south from Shanghai to Fujian province where the Haixi Fashion Week has concluded in Shishi as a main feature of the 13th Cross Straits Textile and Apparel Exposition. The event brought together some of the top international labels and carried the local garment industry to the forefront of the world market.

At the Haixi Fashion Week, Spanish designer Jose Acosta drew wide attention for his first solo show. The trendy yet classic style of his works won enthusiastic applause from all spectators.

Another internationally acclaimed designer at the show was Jim Carter from England. Mixing high art with everyday practicality, the artist has earned a solid reputation for his design of women's trousers. During the fashion week, he has signed an agreement for cooperate with factories in Shishi.

Going with the current trend of the autumn/winter season, most designers are stressing the use of natural fabrics in their lines, with woollen fabrics proving to be the favorite. While men's wear are dominated by grey and blue, the color purple is highly visible among women's garments.

Of course, Taiwan designers are a major presence at the Haixi Fashion Week. Among the leading names are Pan Yiliang, Cai Meiyue, and Zeng Fengfei. Their careers have corresponded with the steady growth of Taiwan's fashion industry.
