Over 70,000 marathon runners dashed out at 8:00a.m. from Xiamen International Conference and Exhibition Centre Saturday morning.
 
This year marked the 10th year of the Xiamen International Marathon, which has become a crucial sports event in Xiamen and gained its increasing international popularity.
 
This year's races included the Full Marathon(42.195km), Half Marathon(21.0975km), and 10KM and 5KM races as well. In addition, a wheel-chair half marathon and 12km skating competition were held at the same time.

Kenyan Kamais Peter won the men's race in 2:07:37, broke the current course record of Xiamen Marathon. The women's title was claimed by Ethiopian, Ashu Kasim, who finished in 2:23:09.
 
Winners of the Men's and Women's Full Marathon will receive a $40,000 bonus, match record breaker will be rewarded $15,000, and the bonus for world record breaker is $1 million.

Wow, 70,000 runners...it didn't seem like that many went by my apartment this morning. Couldn't have asked for a nicer day with cool weather and no rain.
