29 Xiamen colloge students have become online celebrity for their ghost graduation photos "Dying for Design".
Graduation photos of Xiamen college students have gone viral on the internet recently, reports Xiamen Economic Daily.
On a day in May this year, 29 soon-to-be graduates from the Xiamen Arts and Design College of Fuzhou University, walked out of campus to take their graduation photos on Xiamen’s Gulangyu Island.
"We saw an old house, along with mottled shadows of a centuries-old banyan tree, as if we were in a horror film. Then an idea suddenly struck us: take ghost graduation photos", said Wang Zhenbao, the class monitor.
With the theme of "Dying for Design", the black-and-white graduation photos featuring the 29 students in academic dresses standing in the spooky surroundings have made a stir online after being posted on weibo, a twitter-like service in China.
"The theme of "Dying for Design" is a good description of design students such as us. We usually stay up all night scrambling through designs, which is detrimental to our health. We often joke that we may end up as designs", said Wang Zhenbao.
The 29 soon-to-be graduates gained overnight popularity for their ghost graduation photos, sparking hot debate online.
Some suggested that they just took this kind of graduation photo as a stunt, while others said that the ghost photos were amazing and admired their creativity.
