43,000 Xiamenese shop on Taobao in Q2, ranks 15th nationwide

Nearly 43,000 people in Xiamen bought at least one thing on Taobao.com, the largest online-shopping platform in China, in Q2, ranking 15th nationwide, according to recent data released by the Chinese e-commerce giant on Wednesday.

The data showed that more women are likely to shop online than men, as 23,000 women from Xiamen purchased something on Taobao during April to June while only 20,000 men did so.

The per capita expenditure on Taobao in Xiamen was 443 yuan in Q2, and purchased items include movie tickets, food, make-up products, body and skin care products, books, and education and training services.

51,000 users in Fuzhou shopped on Taobao in Q2 with a per capita expenditure of 485 yuan, while a smaller number of online shoppers-only 14,000- did so in Quanzhou in Q2, with a per capita expenditure of 452 yuan.
