Following Rainbow and Wal-Mart, leading Japanese retail group AEON plans to open its first outlet in Xiamen in the near future, and its site selection is still under discussion currently, reports Strait Herald.

As a Global Fortune 500 company, AEON Group is one of the largest retailers both in Japan and Asia, whose retail sales peaked in Japan last year. They are engaged in a variety of activities primarily related to the retail business, ranging from superstores, supermarkets to discount stores, department stores, convenience stores, as well as financial services, restaurants and shopping centre developments.

As the nearest district to Xiamen Island, Haicang District has its own regional advantages. Instead of the chemical industry, Haicang District has been attaching more importance to the development of environment-friendly industries including biomedical and oil, and cultural and creative industries.
