Xiang'an campus of Xiamen University to open in September

The construction of Phaseâ… of Xiamen University’s Xiang'an campus is progressing smoothly and is expected to be finished by the end of August. Nearly 10,000 teachers and students from 8 schools of the university are scheduled to move into the new campus this September, according to Xiamen Daily.

Located in the Xindian Town, Xiang'an District, to the south of Xiangshan Mountain, north of Xiang'an South Road, west of Shamei Viallage and east of Maolin Village, the Xiang'an campus will cover a total land area of 243 hectares and have a total construction area of 1.15 million square meters, larger than its main campus at Siming Nan Road on Xiamen Island.

8 affiliated schools of Xiamen University including the medical college, school of pharmaceutical sciences, school of life sciences, school of public health, nursing department, college of ocean & earth sciences, college of environment & ecology and school of energy research, will move to the new campus in September.

In the future, the new campus will become a training base for Xiamen University’s undergraduate and postgraduate students, an incubation base for high-level scientific and technological research and innovation, the southern base of China Confucius Institute Headquarters as well as a demonstration base for Chinese-foreign cooperation in running schools.
