Xiamen to see temps soar before Qixi Festival as typhoon Tembin nears

As typhoon Tembin is approaching, Xiamen is forecast to experience sweltering weather ahead of Qixi Festival or Chinese Valentine's Day, which falls on 23th August this year, reports Xiamen Daily.
 
Tembin, the 14th tropical storm of the Pacific typhoon season this year, has intensified into to a typhoon, centered 620 kilometres southeast of Eluanbi on the southernmost tip of Taiwan, packing maximum winds of 119kmph and gusts of up to 155kmph and moving at a speed of 8 km per hour in a northerly direction as of 8 am on Monday. The storm may make landfall on Taiwan's east coast on Thursday.
 
Xiamen is expected to see soaring temperatures in the coming days under the influence of typhoon Tembin, with a highest temperature of 33-34 degrees Celsius, according to the the Xiamen Meteorological Observatory.
 
Meanwhile, a tropical depression that formed near Guam on Sunday was still located 2,300 km from Taiwan as of 8 am on Monday and may strengthen into a tropical storm over the next two days. And an unprecedented “typhoon trio” is expected to stage in this month following the formation of 15th tropical storm Bolaven and 16th tropical storm Sanba.
