Xiamen-Shenzhen high-speed railway
Xiamen-Shenzhen high-speed railway started construction on 23rd November, 2007.
According to relevant departments, the construction of the long-awaited Xiamen-Shenzhen high-speed railway, against all the odds, is moving forward smoothly and is expected to open in October next year.

Affected by financial strains and construction difficulties, the opening of the Xiamen-Shenzhen high-speed railway has been repeatedly postponed since last July when a fatal train crash killed 40 people in Wenzhou.

At 502.4 kilometers in length, the Xiamen-Shenzhen high-speed railway which started construction on 23rd November, 2007, will link 2 special economic zones in China, Xiamen and Shenzhen. The travel time from Xiamen to Shenzhen by train will be shortened to 3 hours from the current 11 hours upon its opening.

According to the latest plan, the Xiamen-Shenzhen Railway will connect the Fuzhou-Xiamen high-speed railway in the north, starting from Xiamen North Station (厦门北站), running though Zhangzhou (漳州), Chaozhou (潮州), Shantou (汕头), Puning (普宁), Shanwei (汕尾), Huizhou (惠州) and ending at Shenzhen North Railway Station (深圳北站).
