The construction of a new social welfare centre is now in full swing and moving forward smoothly in Xiamen’s Tong'an District, and the centre is expected to be put into operation in October this year, nearly 3 months ahead of schedule.

Located in Yunyang Village of Lianhua Town in Tong'an District, the Tong'an Sovial Welfare Centre covers a building area of 18,826.469 square metres, boasting a total investment of RMB49.85 million.

The social welfare centre is comprised of 5 main buildings including a children's welfare centre and sheltered accommodation, and will offer 250 beds for the elderly and 50 beds for the children upon its opening.

Xiamen has attached highly importance to vulnerable groups and pushed forward the improvement of welfare services in its outlying districts, as part of efforts to further promote integration between Xiamen Island and its outlying districts.
