A picture of one Xiamen college student wrapped in a quilt in her air-conditioned dorm room with the caption “Why not apply to Huaqiao University?” recently went viral on Sina Weibo, a popular microblogging platform in China.
When interviewed by a reporter, the student said she just wanted to show off the fact their dorm rooms were air conditioned to those who were suffering in the sweltering summer days in other colleges, and never imagined it would become so popular.
Pictures of Chinese university student Kang Kang proved so popular they caused a university website to crash after being uploaded onto the homepage
The incident reminded many netizens of the pretty Chinese student Kang Kang who caused the Renmin University website to crash after her graduation photos were uploaded onto the homepage.
Both the photos became very popular quickly in the height of the admissions period when thousands of would-be students were choosing their college.
Many Chinese college dorms are not equipped with air conditioners. However, students in Chongqing and Wuhan, two of China's "four ovens", cities where summertime temperatures can soar to 40 degrees Celsius, have come up with their own creative ways to deal with the summer heat.
Their hilarious postings quickly become a hot topic on Sina Weibo. Check out some of them below:
