Two Sydney residents could face the firing squad after they were arrested in China on drug importation charges.

Peter Gardner and Kalynda Davis have been charged with allegedly attempting to import 75kg of methamphetamine from China to Australia.

Nine News reported the pair are believed to have flown from Sydney to Guangzhou on November 5.

The pair were booked to return to the country three days later but it is understood the pair were apprehended by Chinese authorities on the way home.

Gardner is from Richmond and Daily Mail Australia understands Davis is from Penrith.

The duo are expected front court later this week. A Department of Foreign Affairs spokeswoman refused to comment.

Daily Mail Australia has approached Gardner's former employer, a construction business, for comment.

China should execute all convicted drug traffickers. Foreign countries(Britain & France) dealing in opium inflicted great pain on China during the opium wars & took control of Hong Kong.China must keep up its unrelenting stance on drug dealers.Seelink
