A WOMAN caught rifling through a foreigner’s bag after they spent the night together has been jailed for attacking a police officer called to the scene.

The woman, surnamed Tao, received a one-year sentence for interfering with public administration, the Jing’an District People’s Court said yesterday.

Tao met a foreign man in a bar on November 8 last year and afterward they went to One Executive Suites on Fengyang Road, the court heard.

The name and nationality of the foreigner were not revealed, only that he arrived in Beijing from Europe 10 days before coming to Shanghai.

The pair stayed in their room until the next afternoon. When the man awoke, he saw Tao going through his belongings and an argument broke out.

A member of security staff who came to the scene was attacked by Tao, who dragged him by his tie and hit him.

Police came to the scene and tried to take Tao to the police station for questioning.

But she was abusive and struck an officer on the face, leaving him with bruising.

Prosecutors said Tao had convictions for prostitution and carrying a knife.
