Xiamen has been increasing the use of new-energy buses in the city since this year, with the first batch of LNG Plug-in Electric Hybrid buses being put into service on the NO. 651 and No. 118 bus lines, and the buses of the No.18 bus line were fully changed to LNG Plug-in Electric Hybrid buses on April 15.

10 Plug-in Electric Hybrid buses are expected to be put into service on the Xiamen No. 1 bus line by the end of April.

The Xiamen government has submitted its policy of providing subsidies for the purchase of new-energy buses to the State Council on April 16, which is expected to be revealed to the public in May. The subsidy on new-energy buses is expected to reach RMB 40,000 to 80,000 per bus per year, according to the policy.

Xiamen has been promoting the use of clean-energy and new-energy buses since 2010 and has put 722 natural gas clean-energy buses, including 416 CNG clean-energy and 306 LNG clean-energy buses, into use by the end of 2015. Up to now, 109 more new-energy buses, including 106 Prius gas-electric hybrid buses and 3 gasoline-electric hybrid buses, have been put into use in Xiamen in 2015.

The Xiamen Public Transportation Group is testing the operation of pure electric buses and is expected to put them into trail operation in 2016.
