An arrest warrant has been issued for a former Adelaide doctor charged with recruiting terrorists.
Dr Tareq Kamleh, suspected of having fled to Syria to join the extremist group, made headlines after allegedly appearing in ISIL propaganda videos calling on fellow medical professionals to help out the "brothers and sisters" of the Muslim world.
Dr Kamleh has been charged with knowingly recruiting a person to a terrorist organisation. The offence allegedly occurred on April 4 in Syria.
It is uncertain whether Dr Kamleh has been located but his social media account suggests he is still in Syria.
Police have confirmed Dr Kamleh has not been arrested but the warrant authorises law enforcement to arrest him immediately should he return to Australia.
The warrant relates to a number of offences including membership of a terrorist organisation, recruiting for a terrorist organisation and entering, or remaining in, a declared area.
Australian Federal Police successfully applied for a hearing in the Adelaide Magistrate's Court this morning to be closed to media on the basis of national security.
