35 new public bike stations put into service on Xiamen Island

Starting from August 1, a total of 1,000 bikes were put into use in 35 new public bike stations on Xiamen Island, covering road sections near Qianpu area and Yunding Bei Road area. 
 
The number of operational bike stations on Xiamen Island amounted to 106, offering 2,100 public bikes in Huli High-Tech Park, Qianpu-Software Park Phase 2 area, and Heshan Jie Dao (禾山街道). 
 
In late August, 249 new bike stations will be put into use around Yundang Lake, Lianqian area and Jinshang Road. All 355 stations for the first phase of the public bike system on Xiamen Island are expected to be put into service by the end of September, covering six cycling routes on the island.
 
Of the 35 new stations, some are located near the Straits International Community (海峡国际社区), Huli Wanda Plaza, Qianpu BRT Station, Jinshan BRT Station, Caitang Flower Market and Zhonglun Park. 
  
Bicycle rental card upgrade:  
 
1) New bike rental cards will support the public bike system upgrade
2) The new public bike system will support payment with e-tong cards as of August 25 
  
Bicycle station upgrade:  
 
Seventy-one bike stations are undergoing upgrades. The upgrades are expected to be completed as of August 15. 
    
E-tong card payment:  
  
Residents can activate their e-tong cards for the function of public bike payment. An ID card or temporary residence permit, together with a 400 yuan deposit and prepayment of 50 yuan will be required for activation. A 1,200 yuan deposit and another minimum charge of 50 yuan are required to apply for a bicycle rental card for people from other cities. 
 
The public bike sharing systems in Haicang District and on Xiamen Island are run by two different operators; the E-Tong card needs to be activated to be used in Haicang and vice versa. 
  
Residents can activate their e-tong cards in the following places: 
 
1) Tianhu Business Office/天湖营业厅 (1F, No.97-99 Tianhu Road)
2) Huli Business Office/湖里营业厅 (1F, former investment attraction center in Huli High-tech Park)
3) Xiamen Municipal Administration Service Center/市行政服务中心 (3F, C Hall, No. 30 window; weekend excluded)
