According to a research report on Domestic and International MICE Industry Development Evaluation Research for 2016, Xiamen took 54th place globally and was positioned 10th domestically in ranking of development of the local MICE industry.
The report was released by the Shanghai MICE Institute, a specialized research institute on MICE jointly established by the Ministry of Commerce and the Shanghai government. The report was based on three criteria: development of exhibition venues, exhibitions, and exhibitors.
A total of 10 Chinese cities made it into the global ranking, namely Shanghai (third in global ranking), Guangzhou (10th), Chongqing (21st), Beijing (26th), Wuhan (28th), Yiwu (36th), Shenyang (46th), Shenzhen (47th), Hong Kong (50th) and Xiamen (54th).
All selected Chinese MICE cities have higher development index ratings for their value exhibition venues than their counterpart overseas cities.
