Press Briefing of BRICS Xiamen Summit was held on May 22nd.
There will be no BRICS holiday for Xiamen residents during the 9th BRICS Summit, which is scheduled to be held from September 3rd to 5th in Xiamen, according to a BRICS Xiamen Summit Press Briefing held on May 22nd.

The main venue for the event will be the Xiamen International Conference and Exhibition Center.

The Xiamen Government vowed to minimize the effect the summit would have on the daily lives of Xiamen residents.

Residents can expect to be able to go about their lives as usual in most aspects, except for transportation, which will be negatively impacted periodically throughout the event.

Over the past 36 years, Xiamen’s GDP grew at an annual rate of 16.1 percent. The city's GDP per capita reached USD $15,000 last year.

Xiamen was recently ranked as a first-tier Chinese city on the 2016 List of Chinese City Rankings published by CBN Weekly, China’s leading business news magazine.
