Online shoppers spend RMB1.38b during '11.11' in Xiamen

Residents in Xiamen spent a total of RMB 1.38 billion during the annual "11.11" online shopping carnival on November 1st, 2017, a year-on-year increase of 35 percent.

A shopper in Xiamen's Huli District was the biggest spender, shelling out RMB 9.504 million, the most among online shoppers in Xiamen.

According to data, money spent by people born in the 1980s accounted for 52 percent of Xiamen's total expenditures, followed by people born in the 1990s with 25 percent. Mobile phones were the most popular item purchased by Xiamen online shoppers.

Females shopped more than males; they accounted for 57 percent of total online consumers in Xiamen during this year's "11.11" online shopping carnival.

Fuzhou took first place in Fujian Province in spending (RMB 1.94 billion in total), followed by Xiamen with RMB 1.38 billion and Quanzhou with RMB 1.25 billion.

Fujian Province ranked 8th place nationwide in spending, with a total of RMB 6.64 billion, according to data released by Alibaba after the online shopping carnival.
