Going about Xiamen's 2018 Spring Festival holiday

Online ticket sales only for Gulangyu tourists over CNY holiday

The Spring Festival lasts from February 15th to 21st this year. The total allowed number of visitors per day to Gulangyu Island is capped at 50,000.

Tourists can only buy Xiamen-Gulangyu tickets online during the Spring Festival holiday via official WeChat or website of the Xiamen Ferry Co., Ltd, and they shall provide the valid documents that were used to buy the tickets online before getting on ferry boats.

Online tickets are available 15 days in advance.

This year's Chunyun — the world's biggest annual "mass human migration" — will start from February 1st to March 12th, 2018.
Road transit

Xiamen is expected to handle 350,000 passengers on roads, down by 25.22 percent year-on-year.
Air transit

Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport is expected to handle 21,672 flights during the 40-day Chunyun period, a year-on-year increase of 1.5 percent.
Rail transit

Xiamen railway stations are expected handle 3.45 million passengers during the Chunyun period, a year-on-year increase of 5.78 percent.
By waterway

110 passenger boats have undergone safety checks. About 900,000 passengers, mainly visitors, are expected to take boats during the 40-day Chunyun period in Xiamen.
Xiamen delivery services

Several express companies, including EMS, SF Express, and Yunda Express, confirmed they will continue delivery services during the Spring Festival holiday.
However, delivery efficiency will be reduced, as half of the companies' couriers will be on vacation during the holiday. An additional fee of around RMB 10 will be required to ship a package during the Spring Festival holiday.
Xiamen banks

The banks suspend their manual services during the Spring Festival holiday. Most of them will start normal operation after the 7-day holiday (from February 15th to 21st this year). And only some of them will start manual services from February 19th, 2018.
