According to data released by the Xiamen Tourism Development Commission, Xiamen received about 2.62 million international and domestic tourists over the weeklong 2018 Chinese New Year holiday, a year-on-year increase of 16.14 percent, generating tourism revenue of RMB 2.92 billion.

Hotel Room Occupancy Rate
The hotel room occupancy rate in the city averaged 79.14 percent, up by 17.75 percent year on year, and the average room occupancy rate at inns and guest houses across the city was 74.83 percent.

Tourist Spending
Of the 2.62 million visitors, overnight tourists represented 28.02 percent the total, and one-day-tour tourists accounted for 71.98 percent of total visitors.

Average spending by overnight tourists reached RMB 2,638. One-day-tour visitors spent RMB 524 on average.

According to data released by Ctrip.com, one of China’s largest online travel solution providers, average spending by tourists in Xiamen during the 2018 Chinese New Year holiday took third place nationwide.

China’s Third Most Popular Domestic CNY Holiday Destination
According to a research report jointly released by the China Tourism Academy, the Data Center of the Chinese National Tourism Administration, and Ctrip.com, Xiamen was the third most poplar domestic tourist destination nationwide for the Chinese New Year holiday, following Sanya and Beijing.
