Xiamen is scheduled to celebrate its first Chinese Farmers’ Harvest Festival on September 23rd, 2018, in Jimei, Tong’an and Haicang districts.

A series of cultural events and local agricultural products promotion activities will be held for the festival.

According to a government announcement released in June this year, starting in 2018, China will celebrate a new festival, the Chinese Farmers' Harvest Festival. The festival will fall on the Autumnal Equinox of the Chinese lunar calendar. China will host more than 100 activities nationwide to celebrate the first Chinese Farmers' Harvest Festival.

The traditional Chinese lunar calendar divides the year into 24 solar terms. The Autumnal Equinox — In Chinese, it's called qiufen (秋分) — is the 16th solar term of the year.
