Kinmen, July 9 (CNA) A delegation of more than 40 members of Kinmen's Wuchiang Dance Troupe departed Monday for Xiamen in China's Fujian Province to engage in exchanges with Xiamen's Little Egret Folk Dance Troupe.
The delegation left by boat via the direct cross-Taiwan Strait "three mini-links" route between Kinmen and Xiamen.
The members of the delegation, who are mostly students, will stay in Xiamen for eight days until July 16 to attend a summer dance camp and learn dance techniques from Little Egret.
Little Egret, established in 1993, is the first professional folk dance troupe in China. It has toured many countries, and in October last year, the troupe paid a five-day visit to Taiwan and staged performances in Taichung and Chiayi.
The Wuchiang Dance Troupe was set up in 2002. Shortly before its visit to Xiamen, the troupe gave a performance in Yunlin County in central Taiwan at the invitation of the county government and won acclaim from thousands of local residents.
Wuchiang Dance Troupe supervisor Chang Hui-ling, who is leading the delegation, told reporters before departure that the visit is intended to expose members of the troupe to a different learning environment where different dance techniques will be beneficial to them.
