
Changtai, Xiamen’s backyard
Changtai, dubbed as Xiamen’s backyard which is located in the center of the Minnan Golden Triangle (Xiamen, Zhangzhou and Quanzhou), will embrace its first expressway in 2012, according to Mr. Wang Youzhong, director of the transportation department of Changtai County, Zhangzhou City.
On Nov. 16, 2009, the ground breaking ceremony for the Xiamen-Changtai section, which is a part of the Xiamen-Chengdu Expressway, was held in Changtai, marking the end of the days that there was no expressway's in the county.
The Xiamen-Changtai section belongs to the Zhangzhou section which is 74.5 km in length, involving a total investment of 6.36 billion yuan.
The Zhangzhou section consists of a 54-km-long two-way six-lane expressway and a 20.5-km-long two-way four-lane expressway.
The construction period is expected to be three years. Upon completion, the travel time between Changtai and Xiamen’s Haicang District will be shortened to 20 minutes.
