The land requisition and relocation for the Xiamen section of the Xiamen-Shenzhen Railway has been completed, according to the Xiamen Municipal Government.

The railway is scheduled to be completed and open to traffic at the end of next year.

The railway, which is to link China’s two economic zones, the Xiamen Economic Zone in Fujian Province and Shenzhen Economic Zone in Guangdong Province is another important section of China’s coastal railway artery.

With a total investment of 41.7 billion yuan, the Xiamen-Shenzhen Railway is 502km long (12.3km for Xiamen section). The design speed of trains running on the railway will be 200km/h and a reserved speed of 250km/h.

Upon completion, the journey time between the two cities will be shortened to 3 hours from the current 11 hours.
