A man was executed Monday in Xiamen for killing his mistress whose body was found abandoned in a wooded area in Tong’an District, according to the Xiamen Intermediate People’s Court.

The 32-year-old married murderer, Xiang Yunfei, hailed from southwest China’s Chongqing municipality. He lived in Tong’an District and first met the victim, surnamed Yang in early 2007.

They soon fell in love with each other and in May 2007, Xiang borrowed 40,000 yuan from Yang, who later asked him to divorce his wife but Xiang refused.

At noon on Sept. 19, 2007, a serious quarrel broke out when Yang again urged the man to divorce his wife and marry her. The angry man pushed the victim into a longan wood and slashed her in the neck with a knife.

The victim died on the spot and was abandoned in the woods until two months later, when her body was found by a passerby who called police.

Xiang was arrest at a bar in Jiangmen City of Guangdong Province on Dec. 11, 2007.
