Ok, I'm from Texas and most places that I've been to (especially in China) that claim to be TX eateries simply do not cut it. However, JJ was a really pleasant surprise when I first went there. The barbecue plate is absolutely awesome, and the burgers are top notch. I mentioned to one of the owners that I was from Texas and he immediately showed me around the back of the house and took me to see the smoker which is the size of a room. They were super friendly and even bought our table a round of drinks after the tour. These guys absolutely do it right, and I have not found a single restaurant in China that does Texas better. Five stars for sure.
Great dinner show, good food, great location, affordable
Great food and service! I enjoyed the grilled meat and fish. Their drinks were nice too. Will definitely visit again
We met some new friends here, including with our families which included about 7 teens. We all ate dinner here (pizza, burgers, fajitas, lasagne, paella). The food was fine, offering a Tex-Mex, American style of eating; good salsa and large serving and tasty fajitas (enough for 2).
We stayed on for the live music when the place got really busy with a lot of tables ordering mini-kegs of beer, which looked a nice option for a hot evening.
Overall a very pleasant evening for a few friends and their families to meet, eat and enjoy live music.
I just went to JJ's last night and the band was excellent.
Josh was on the drums and they had a Chinese guy playing sax. The guitarist and bassist might have been African and the music they all played was the best music I've seen in Haiwan park since it opened in 2007
Everything is bigger from Texas, except the food at this place. I ordered the Texas BBQ and received the 4 smallest pieces of brisket I have ever seen in my life and less than 1.5 chicken wings and some sausage... it was served on a cutting board but should have been served on a teacup saucer.... I lived in Texas before and feel so ashamed that this man has the BALLS to even associate himself with the great state of Texas is an utter disgrace!!! I had to go to Mcdonalds and eat a Big Mac meal just to fill up. I had a cat that would eat more meat than i was served!!! If you want real Texas BBQ, go to Beijing and eat at Texas Tim’s BBQ and you will pay the same price and have a pile of meat on your plate!!!
Excellent food! Glad this place is in Xiamen, good job Josh!
Must try the ribs!!! amazing! True texas style, a bit overpriced
I feel that this is one of my favorite places to eat in the area for several reasons. The food that is served here is quite delicious and it is fairly different from the rest of the western food places that I have been too. The live musical performances are nice, however most hangouts in the area also provide this accommodation. Nothing is more entertaining then watching people have a go at the ferocious mechanical bull though. The prices were average for most western restaurants and I definitely didn’t feel slighted on food portions so that was a plus. The crowd of people was a nice mixed environment, I didn't feel like it only catered to one group of people. I could only give J.J.’s a four star because I felt while the outdoor seating was nice atmospherically the chair/table setup was pretty uncomfortable.
Its my favorite Haiwan bar. Food, music, and happy hour for beer until 8:30.
The food here is generally ok, and the live music is entertaining without being too imposing.
This is the Tex-Mex restaurant that is not so Texas, but it suffices for a dude from the land down under.... lol....ya!.....she's right mate!
nice place to hangout. there's live music that's bearable by xiamen's standards. guiness is not too overpriced compared to other bars near marco polo
I have eaten there four different times and haven't had a good meal yet. The pulled pork sandwich I had was cold and the bread tasted like it was a week old. They blamed it on a nex cook in the kitchen. The next time I had a steak it was full of gristle and was very tough. I tried two more times and still wasn't impressed.
What the hell is with all these random reviews about the university?
Anyway, JJ's is cool. Good service, excellent food, great atmosphere. A bit pricey but you get your money's worth .
