Quanzhou is the starting point of the “Maritime Silk Road.” The city was once a prosperous center of foreign trade. Quanzhou is also the birthplace of many famous overseas Chinese. After achieving great success abroad, many of those overseas Chinese came back to their hometown and made great contributions to the city’s construction, creating a wealth of interesting architecture in the city. Four new cases of human infection of H7N9 bird flu were reported in east China's Zhejiang and Fujian provinces on Thursday, according to provincial health authorities. The cases involve a 30-year-old man surnamed Zeng and a 60-year-old man surnamed Xu. Both are seriously ill and receiving treatment in the city of Quanzhou, Fujian. The two other cases are a 20-year-old woman and a 58-year-old man in Zhejiang Province. Both are in serious conditions and receiving treatment in the cities of Hangzhou and Taizhou respectively. A two-day, cross-strait aviation meeting ended in Greater Taichung yesterday, with both Taiwan and China agreeing to cap the additional flights to and from six cities in China during the upcoming Lunar New Year holidays. Taiwan's Civil Aeronautics Administration (CAA) said in a statement that both sides had agreed not to set any restrictions on the total number of additional flights offered by flight carriers.
