Mobile monitoring: 180 buses & ambulances set to be traffic monitors in Xiamen

  More traffic violations will be captured after buses and ambulances equipped with monitoring cameras were put into service in the city.   The drivers of buses and ambulances will focus on capturing traffic violations of stopping vehicles in front of bus stations or of those refusing to give way to ambulances.   Since this August, a total of 180 buses and ambulances in Xiamen have been equipped with monitoring cameras. Boy, 11, crushed to death by bus near Fanghu Village in Xiamen

    A tragic accident took place near Fanghu Village bus station in Xiamen on Monday, when a 11-year-old boy was run over by a bus. The accident happened at 8:40am on 9th February. According to one witness, the boy was knocked down by a car after he tried to climb over the railing on the road. Then he was run over by the rear wheel of a bus at the station. The boy was then taken to Xiamen Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital but was pronounced dead at the hospital. 18 new double decker LNG buses hit the road in Xiamen

    According to Xiamen Bus Group, the first batch of 18 double decker LNG (liquefied natural gas) buses was put into service in Xiamen in July. The new buses feature larger passenger capacity, high safety performance and low emissions.    The liquefied natural gas takes up about 1/600th the volume of natural gas in its gaseous state. It is odorless, colorless, non-toxic and non-corrosive.
