The latest flagship phone of Taiwan's HTC Corp. has become the bestseller in Amazon.com Inc.'s online sales ranking, beating its main competitor from Samsung Electronics Co., the hourly updated list showed Monday.

The new HTC One being sold via U.S. carrier Sprint was ranked as the top seller in the category of "contract cell phones” as of 8 a.m., followed by the white Samsung Galaxy S4 via Sprint, black S4 via Sprint and black S4 via operator Verizon Wireless.

Samsung remained the biggest seller on the top 10 list, with its S4 and S3 flagship phones snagging eight places. Apart from HTC, Motorola Mobility Holdings Inc.'s DROID RAZR MAXX HD was the only other entry on the list.

According to the latest data from research firm comScore Inc., Apple Inc. is widening its lead over Samsung and other Android phone makers in the U.S. smartphone market.

For the first three months of 2013, Apple's market share of the U.S. smartphone market grew by 2.7 percentage points to 39 percent, followed by Samsung with 21.7 percent, HTC with 9 percent, Motorola with 8.5 percent and LG with 6.8 percent, comScore said.

HTC's market share fell 1.2 percentage points from the fourth quarter of last year—the steepest decline among the top five players.
