After nearly 9 months' of negotiations, Microsoft China finally signed a deal to set up a mobile game innovation center in the third phase of Xiamen Software Park in Jimei District.
It will be the fourth of its kind to be set up by Microsoft in the Greater China area, following mobile game innovation centers in Shanghai's Putuo area, Beijing's Shijingshan and Hebei's Langfang.
Microsoft China will give technical support to start-up companies which will be established in the software park, and in return the local government will give financial support for the mobile game development project within three years.
The mobile game innovation center is expected to attract more than 90 start-up mobile game development companies within three years, generating turnover of about 2 billion yuan.
The project also aims to provide 10,000 job opportunities and promote a mobile game industry worth about 10 billion yuan.
Mr. Davis Tsai, vice president of Microsoft China, said Xiamen has the advantage of developing the mobile game industry as it is home to many colleges and universities that provide creative talents, and it has a strong atmosphere for start-up companies in the software park.
