CRH2A train consists of 8 cars, including a first-class car, a dinning car and 6 second-class cars
The CRH2E is a modified 16-cars version of the CRH2 with sleeping cars.
25 pairs of CRH2 bullet trains will be used on the Fuzhou-Xiamen high-speed railway in the initial period and 12 more pairs will be put into use in due time, Tuesday’s Xiamen Economic Daily reported.
CRH2, the "Harmony" China Railway High-speed series electric multiple units (EMUs), is one of the high-speed train models in China.
In 2004, the Ministry of Railway in China ordered 60 sets of CRH2 trains from Kawasaki Heavy Industries in Japan, including CRH2A, CRH2B, CRH2C and CRH2E variants. They were delivered at the time of the sixth national railway speed-up in April 2007.
The CRH2 is a modified E2-1000 Series Shinkansen design from Japan, and represents the second Shinkansen train model to be exported. It has an operating speed of 250 km/h.
Two variants of the CRH2, the CRH2A and CRH2E, will be used on the Fuzhou-Xiamen railway.
CRH2A train consists of 8 cars, including a first-class car, a dinning car and 6 second-class cars. It can carry 610 passengers.
The CRH2E is a modified 16-cars version of the CRH2 with sleeping cars. It can carry 630 passengers. The No. 1 and 16 are second-class cars, the No. 8 is a dining car and the others are sleeping cars.
According to the initial timetable of the Fuzhou-Xiamen railway, there will be 25 pairs of CRH2 trains running between Xiamen, Fuzhou, Hangzhou and Shanghai on a daily basis. It means the number of passengers using the high-speed railway could reach 30,000 every day.
