The 18-meter-long articulated BRT buses began to serve passengers on 24th April, according to the Xiamen BRT operator.

In the initial period, buses running on BRT Line 1 (from No.1 Dock to Huaqiao University) have been put into trial operation.

These articulated buses are expected to ease the traffic congestion between Dongfang Shanzhuang BRT sub-station and No.1 Dock Terminal during rush hours.

As per the data released by the BRT operator, BRT buses carry 180,000 passengers every day under normal conditions. The buses even carry 200,000 daily passengers on weekends and during the holidays. At Kah Kee Station, passenger flow even reaches about 6,000 every hour at peak hours.

The articulated BRT buses, composed of 2 cars, have three doors. These buses can carry over 150 passengers each time, double of the carrying capacity of the 12-meter-long BRT buses.
