Xiamen BRT Company announced that it has launched a safety inspection of all BRT lines on Tuesday after Fujian Jiaojian Group Engineer Co.,Ltd was exposed to have participated in the construction of part of BRT line 1, reported Southeast Post.

A 100-metre section of a costly bridge in Northeastern China’s Harbin city broke off on 24th Aug after only one year in service, resulting in the deaths of 3 drivers and injuring 5 others.

The collapsed ramp of the bridge was later revealed to have been constructed by the Xiamen-headquartered Fujian Jiaojian Group Engineer company, prompting uproar in Xiamen as many of the city’s infrastructural projects, such as BRT Line 1, Yanwu Bridge, Wuyuan Bridge, Yuanboyuan Project and Chenggong Avenue have also been completed by the company.

Xiamen BRT Company stressed that only Chengyi College Station in Jimei District is built by Fujian Jiaojian, and none of the BRT lanes and piers are the work of the company. But many commuters still expressed their worries about potential danger, and called for a thorough safety inspection.

Fujian Jiaojian said they have sent experts to join the ongoing investigation in Harbin and will launch safety investigations into the projects they are undertaking and those they have completed soon.
