Mr. Peter Zec, the president of Red Dot, whose design award is honored as the Oscar award of the design industry, announced it will build a Red Dot Museum in Xiamen in the near future.

It will be the first Red Dot Museum in Mainland China.

The Red Dot Design Award committee will also cooperate with the Xiamen government to push the development of the Red Dot Academy in China and to operate the "China Excellent Design Award" that will accept applications from all over the world from August.

A "Xiamen International Business Design Week - Red Dot in China" event will be held at the Xiamen International Conference and Exhibition Center from October 30 to November 2, which is expected to help Xiamen build its image as an "International Design Service City" via a series of related activities. It will also exhibit 170 products that have won the Red Dot Design Award to visitors, and more than 20 of the world's top design agents are expected to attend the design week.

The Red Dot Design Award is an international product design and communication design prize awarded by the Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen in Essen, Germany. There are prize categories for product design, design agencies, and design concepts. Since 1955, designers and producers can apply for the prizes with the winners being presented at an annual ceremony. Winning products are presented in the Red Dot Design Museum on the premises of the historical Zollverein Coal Mine Industrial Complex in Essen. The Red Dot Design Award had more than 15,500 submissions from 70 countries in 2014.
